Julia Rothman is one of my favourite pattern designer/illustrators, so when I heard about "The Exquisite Book" by Rothman and her fellow designers at Also design, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy! Over 100 artists contributed to the book by way of a little game.

The book is based on the game Exquisite Corpse, invented by the surrealists in the early 1920's (I've played this game so many times, and I had no idea what it was called or where it came from!). Basically, Someone folds a piece of paper into many sections, draws something on the first section and passes it on. The next person adds to the drawing in the next section, passes it on, and so on. The catch is that each artist can only see one step before their own. After each person has taken their turn, the full image is revealed to amazing, random, and hilarious results. And that's literally how the book is set up. Each artwork connects to the  previous image through horizons, characters, shapes, composition, etc. So much fun, creativity, and amazing artists in one book!   This book is one-of-a-kind-awesome.
